The History of New Vegas

New Vegas, originally known as Las Vegas prior to the Great War in the Wasteland before Robert House revived its reconstruction, is a city built upon the remains of Las Vegas, located in southern Nevada.

Unlike the other major cities of the United States, Vegas emerged from the atomic fire of the Great War relatively unscathed, with most of the major damage caused by the downfall of society in general.

Lucky 38

The Lucky 38 is a hotel and casino on the New Vegas Strip in 2281. It is occupied only by Mr. House, the ruler of New Vegas, and his securitrons.

The most prominent element of the New Vegas skyline, the Lucky 38 is a pre-War relic and an enduring monument to Mr. House's vision of Las Vegas: luxury without decadence, refinement without elitism, class without snobbery. But to assume that it was just a casino is erroneous, as in the years leading up to the war, Robert House thoroughly modified the building in preparation for the upcoming nuclear war.

The Tops

The Tops is one of the casinos on the New Vegas Strip in 2281 controlled by the Chairmen, one of the three tribes that were allowed into New Vegas after the war at Mr. House's invitation. The Tops offers a classic Vegas experience, with cool, hip, fun, and macho posturing to entice those with a sense of style. This is a place for manly men with a dame on each arm; here to see the Rad Pack as they perform their routine “The Four Taps” over at the Ace Theater.

The Tops is a casino right out of Vegas's rat-pack era. Frank Sinatra's music plays softly in the background to the clinks of slot machines. Security is tight, with Chairmen out front to collect patrons' weapons before they step inside.

Gomorrah

Gomorrah is a casino on the New Vegas Strip. It is a favorite of NCR troopers, who often gather in large numbers outside. The casino is managed by the Omertas, a shadowy gang of racketeers.

Where The Strip’s other casinos are refined, the Gomorrah is rough around the edges and coarse, as it offers sleazy sex for sale. Top of the attractions list is prostitution, then booze and drugs, and finally gambling. The casino’s entire theme is of excessive debauchery. Unlike other more "classy" casinos, Gomorrah is the only one to be ghoul friendly, even having ghoul bartenders and prostitutes, as well as offering services to ghouls.

Unknown to everyone else on The Strip (although Mr. House has some idea), the head of the Gomorrah, Nero, may be orchestrating a racket with unknown parties.

Ultra Luxe

The Ultra-Luxe is a hotel and casino on the New Vegas Strip. It is run by the White Glove Society, a secretive group of gourmets and connoisseurs, some of questionable tastes.

The Ultra-Luxe is an establishment of incredible refinement that delicately conceals its operators’ more questionable tendencies. Run by the White Glove Society, the Ultra-Luxe pampers its clients and provides The Strip’s most elite casino experience. A dress code is strictly enforced. All of the staff and family members are well-dressed, wellspoken, and well-behaved. The casino’s prime attractions are its renowned restaurant, The Gourmand; its cocktail lounge, Top Shelf; and its art gallery. Roulette and blackjack are the only games offered.

Chairmen Cards

The Chairmen

The Chairmen and their casino, The Tops, embody an ancient “cool” aesthetic of Vegas, plucked from Mr. House’s historical data banks. Before The Strip’s renovation in 2274, the Chairmen were a warrior tribe, and their traditions of honor continue to inform how they select their leadership and interact with each other and outsiders. Unbeknownst to the rest of the tribe, It’s current chief, Benny, has for months been scheming to seize control of Mr. House’s technology and The Strip itself, violating the tribe’s deeply-held values against duplicity and treachery.

Omertas Cards

The Omertas

A highly organized and deadly group of mobsters, the Omertas control the Gomorrah casino, a sleazy vice den on a grand scale, and as such embodies the ruthless exploitation beneath the glitz and glamour of the Strip's neon signs. They also control all prostitution that goes on around the casino. Male residents at The Tops remark that 'the broads over at the Gomorrah look better'.

While by outside appearances the Omertas seem content with their lot, the family’s penchant for treachery and murder is alive and well, and the tribe’s leadership is collaborating with Caesar’s Legion to bring about the Strip’s downfall.
