This font face was created in the 19th century by American Type designer Linn Boyd Beton in 1894. It was created for the Century magazine is still very popular for being used in the body text of periodicals, textbooks and literature. It belongs to the Century type family and differs from the other typefaces by having a low stroke contrast. This effect created a less sharp structure, but is far more readable than some of its predessesors. This type had begub as a foundry type, but has withstood plenty of technical transformations such as linotype, monotype, ludlow,phototype,transfer type, digital type, and Xerox-like "toner-type".
